The Iron and Steel Industry

The Iron and Steel Industry of Shougang Group is a modernized complex form mining to steel rolling. Its comprehensive production capacity in Beijing alone has reached 8 million tons. The mining Company of Shougang Group boasts one of the largest iron ore mines in China . Annual handling capacity of the raw ore came to 27 million tons, while the annual output of ferric oxide pellet and sinter ore reached over 3 million tons and 6 million tons respectively. Blast furnace adopts an artificial intelligent smelting system with international level, of which, No.2BF won the First Prize for National Science and Technology Advancement. The whole production process of steel making is under control of computer, and the advanced technology of slag splashing for lining protection of converter has been adopted, thus prolonging the campaign of the converter to above 6000 heats on average. Both No.2 and No.3 Steel-making plant are the plants adopting fully continuous casting process. In addition, the steel rolling system of Shougang Group is the largest domestic wire rod production base. The “High Speed Wire Rod Production, Development and Innovation” project has won the First Prize for National Science and Technology Advancement. Through adjusting the structure of the products, the ratio of plate products such as color-coated plate and plate has continuously improved.
